JGU’s central institutions fulfill interdisciplinary tasks with respect to research, teaching or continuing education.
Dean’s Offices of the Faculties
The first contact points for any questions on the applicable doctoral degree regulations as well as discipline-related questions are the respective Dean’s Offices of the fields of study. They are registered in the list of the faculties.
The International Office – Incoming, advises and supports graduates from abroad who are interested in pursuing a doctorate at JGU. The International Office – Outgoing helps postgraduates who are planning a research stay in a foreign country.
JGU’s Student Service Center
The Student Service Center is the central contact point for prospective doctoral candidates from Germany with respect to any questions on the application and admission procedures as well as enrollment.

The Career Service at JGU supports graduates as to their professional orientation, planning their professional future and acquiring skills beyond their specific expertise.
The Office of Equality and Diversity provides information on support and promotion options for qualified young female researchers and gives advice concerning career-specific questions.
Family Services Center
The Family Services Center is the central contact and coordination point for all parents (to be) and for those who care for a relative in addition to their job or studies.
Ombudsperson for Research Practice (in German only)
All members of Johannes Gutenberg University can turn to the Ombudsperson regarding good academic practice issues or in cases of academic misconduct.
The Research and Technology Transfer Office assists and advises young researchers regarding questions on and searches for funding options, filing applications as well as JGU’s research environment.
