Foundations at JGU (in German only)
A multitude of foundations promote research projects and dissertations at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. In addition, there are funding options for equipment and excursions, one-off grants or allowances for study trips.

Boehringer Ingelheimer Fonds
The Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds awards PhD fellowships to outstanding junior scientists who wish to pursue an ambitious PhD project of approximately three years in basic biomedical research in an internationally leading laboratory.

Rhineland-Palatinate re-commencing scholarships (in German only)
Twice a year, the State Ministry of Rhineland-Palatinate for Science, Further Education and Culture awards re-commencing scholarships to female researchers. The scholarship’s goal is to promote the continuation and completion of an already launched research project at a university in Rhineland-Palatinate in order to gain further qualification to be a candidate for a professorship or obtain a doctorate.

13 German organizations for the promotion of young talents which have come together under the umbrella of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) provide information on funding guidelines and specific funding offers.

The portal comprises a vast array of funding possibilities which range from covering living costs and financial support for stays abroad to grants for academic works. Moreover, the platform provides various articles on how to apply for scholarships as well as samples for one’s own scholarship application.

e-fellows
The e-fellows scholarship data base offers to research 800 entries by 450 foundations, higher education schools, universities and other institutions. Users can search for suitable scholarships according to country, degree and scholarship type.

DAAD Scholarship Database
The database provides information on various kinds of DAAD funding for foreign students, graduates and postdocs as well as on funding offered by other selected organisations.
